The Battle of Lake Erie in the War of 1812
Join Bushy Run Battlefield for the first installment of this year’s History Speaks lecture series on Tuesday, May 20 at 6:00 PM.
This special presentation will feature Ed Bolla, a longtime volunteer with the Erie Maritime Museum in Erie. Drawing from years of experience interpreting Pennsylvania’s maritime history, Ed will present an engaging program on the pivotal Battle of Lake Erie during the War of 1812.
Discover how Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry’s famous victory on September 10, 1813 changed the course of the war in the Northwest Territory and secured American control of the Great Lakes. Guests will explore the strategy, ships, personalities, and lasting impact of one of the most important naval engagements in early American history.
Whether you are a lifelong history enthusiast or simply curious to learn more about Pennsylvania’s role in the War of 1812, this promises to be an informative and enjoyable evening.
