The increase in interest in the frontier history of Pennsylvania, caused by the establishment of the Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution lead to the publishing of these historical documents. The letters to and from General Bouquet are copies of letters in the British Museum and give a full and correct history of Bouquet's expedition from Philadelphia to Fort Pitt which he rescued from the Indians.
