A monument of Ligonier blue granite marks the location where British troops built a flour bag fortification to protect their wounded during the Battle of Bushy Run, August 5th & 6th, 1763. This conflict played a decisive role in the settlement of western Pennsylvania. A reenactment of the battle takes place during the first weekend of August each year.
